The Glorious Pupil, Titirga, Grandmaster of the Sohonc, shines the famed Day Lantern on Shaeönanra, Grandmaster of the Mangaecca and dread leader of the Unholy Consult.

The Day Lantern, also called the Diurnal, Sky Lantern or False Sun, is a sorcerous artifact, a fan of mirrors that reflects the Sun even in the deepest night. It is one of the Sublime Contrivances of the Artisan, Emilidis.[1]

Emilidis of Ishoriöl, greatest of the Nonmen sorcerer-artisans, created the Day Lantern during the war between Nihrimsul and Siöl that erupted in the aftermath of the Battle of Pir Pahal. Emilidis gifted the artifact to King Sin’niroiha of Nihrimsul, who used it to win an alliance with Ishoriöl. With the announcement of this alliance, King Cû’jara-Cinmoi sued for peace, declaring that a "King of Three Mansions may be brother to a King of two".[2]

The Day Lantern was then deployed as a weapon during the Cûno-Inchoroi Wars, used to pierce the darkest hiding places of the foe and to dismay Sranc, which preferred to fight in darkness.[3]

It’s last known carrier was Titirga, who carried it with him to his death in Viri at the hands of Shaeönanra and Aurang. The fate of the Day Lantern after this point is unknown.[1]
