Sol is an orphan who lives in the city of Sumna.[1]
Story
The Thousandfold Thought
Sol is convinced by his friend and fellow orphan Hertata to travel to Sumna’s stone quays to see the departure of Maithanet, whom Hertata reveres. Sol is concern by the danger of slavers, who hold their markets in the quays, but Hertata believes that no one would dare sin in Maithanet’s presence for fear of being damned. The two boys attend the procession, and Maithanet smiles in Hertata’s direction. After the procession, Hertata is captured by a slaver, but Sol is fast enough to escape.
